JCC Get Out of Mah Swamp!: Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother
Single Delegate Crisis Committee
fairy@uclamun.org
Committee Summary
Abound with prosperity, peace, and plenty of magic, the Kingdom of Far Far Away is an enchanting place where fairy tales come to life! The Kingdom of Far Far Away is led by the Fairy Godmother, who has recently entrusted the throne to Prince Charming. A popular home for the fairytale rich and famous, the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother is known for its affluence and beauty. However, the glitz and glamour of Far Far Away is currently under threat from a gang of dissatisfied fairytale misfits from a nearby swamp. Led by Shrek, this ragtag group of mystical rebels is planning to overthrow the leadership of the Fairy Godmother and completely disrupt the existing structure of the fairytale elite.
In order to defeat the rebels, the Fairy Godmother and her advisors must maintain popular support and discredit their opposition through diplomacy, political strategy and propaganda. Allocations may use their wealth and status in the upper echelons storybook society to strengthen their own reputations and stage scandalous smear campaigns of their enemies. Additionally, both the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother and the rebel forces must contend with mysterious magical forces to win valuable alliances and strengthen their military resources. Will the Fairy Godmother’s realm secure its happily ever after, or will the whispers of dissent shatter the kingdom’s fragile harmony?
Meet The Staff
Alana Akiwumi
Chair
Hello Delegates,
I am Alana Akiwumi, and it is my privilege to serve as the Chair of the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother for LAMUN 2025. I’m a third-year Anthropology major with a minor in global studies from New Jersey. Beyond academics, I love Pinterest, trying new foods, and traveling. In the future, I would like to go into law, particularly in the realm of cultural preservation and human rights.
My journey with Model United Nations began quite by accident when I stumbled into the wrong meeting during my first week of high school. Since then, I haven't looked back. MUN has been an amazing way to bond with friends, learn about global issues, and develop my speaking and collaborative skills. I have had the opportunity to staff various conferences, and most recently have taken on the role of Director of Internal facilitating social events and club camaraderie.
In this crisis committee, you’ll step into a fantastical universe where familiar characters like Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona face off against the rule of the Fairy Godmother and her political puppet, Prince Charming. Your task will be navigating power struggles, propaganda wars, and fantastical obstacles as you craft solutions that reflect the principles of justice, equity, and collaboration. Whether you’re defending the swamp with Shrek’s rebel alliance or working to legitimize the Fairy Godmother’s rule, this committee will challenge your creativity, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.
Welcome to the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me through email.
Sincerely,
Alana Akiwumi

Katie Adamick
Crisis Director
Dear delegates,
Hello! My name is Katie Adamick (she/her) and I’m super excited to be your Crisis Director for the JCC: Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother! I’m a third year majoring in Psychology and History with a minor in Brain and Behavioral Health. In my free time, I love reading, knitting, swimming, and going to the beach. Outside of Model UN, I’m a writer for the Business Law and Investing Society Law Journal and I also do research on stress and body image.
My Model UN journey began in my sophomore year of high school when I joined my school’s club as an opportunity to improve my public speaking skills. Since then, I’ve greatly enjoyed both the immense academic growth and wonderful sense of community that I’ve found in Model UN. I discovered my love for crisis committees last school year, during which I served as a crisis staffer for the Mauryan Empire committee at BruinMUN 31 and the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy committee at LAMUN XIX! I also had an amazing time serving as the Crisis Director for the London’s Most Glamorous committee at BruinMUN 32 this past fall (shout out to my wonderful backroom)!
As a long-time fan of the Shrek film franchise, I’m looking forward to seeing you all bring this committee to life! This committee must work together to maintain the Fairy Godmother’s leadership, which is currently pulling the strings of the Prince Charming puppet government. To do so, the fairytale elite must maintain popular support in Far Far Away, win military confrontations against the Shrek rebels, and contend with unexpected magical obstacles. Will the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother have its happily ever after, or is the Fairy Godmother’s chapter coming to a close? Only time will tell!
Best of luck,
Katie Adamick

Michael Griffin
Coordinating Crisis Director
Dear Delegates,
My name is Michael Griffin (he/him) and I’m thrilled to be your Coordinating Crisis Director (CCD) for Get Out of Mah Swamp!: Shrek’s Rebels vs. the Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother! LAMUN’s JCCs are historically known for being uniquely fun and out-of-the box, and this will be no exception. I hope this committee not only engages and excites you, but leaves you with fond memories by the end of our conference.
I’m a third-year student at UCLA majoring in Biology and I’m from Marin County, CA. In addition to being an active member of Model UN, I am an undergraduate researcher in the department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at UCLA, where I study the development and reproduction of bats. Additionally, I work in student government as part of the USAC Facilities Commission, where I serve as the Co-Director of Transportation Equity & Access committee (i.e. I’m a public transit nerd). I plan on going to medical school after I graduate, and my current specialty of interest is orthopedic surgery. In my free time, I enjoy curating Spotify playlists, playing guitar, and exploring Los Angeles with my friends.
This is my third year of MUN, having joined at the beginning of my freshman year at UCLA! I’ve had the privilege of staffing every conference we’ve hosted since then, including LAMUN and our annual fall high school conference, BruinMUN. This past fall, I served as the Under-Secretary-General of Crisis for BruinMUN, where I had the pleasure of overseeing our diverse and creative crisis committees.
The story of Shrek is one many are familiar with– one that subverts and challenges the norms of traditional fairy tales. I hope your ideas for this committee are just as unique and unconventional as the world it occurs in. I’m looking forward to seeing the direction in which you steer committee as the fate of Far Far Away hangs in the balance. Good luck delegates, and may the best side prevail!
Best Regards,
Michael Griffin
