MUNdercover: CIA Press Corps

Single Delegate Specialized Committee

press@uclamun.org

Committee Summary

Calling all agents! It's time to go undercover…or should we say…MUNdercover.

In this year's press corps, delegates will assume the roles of secret agents for the CIA and will be tasked with uncovering the many conspiracies that are afoot. Agents will infiltrate LAMUN's crisis committees and use their super secret skills to collect whispers of delegates' crisis arcs, which they will report back to HQ. Agents will be given the opportunity to go undercover and interview Crisis Directors to see if they can use their wits to get key intel regarding hidden crisis arcs. The CIA will leak agents' mission reports to front rooms to cause chaos and maybe, just maybe, save the world.

Press corps at LAMUN XIX promises an exciting, fast-paced experience for delegates to use their investigative journalism and photography skills to weather the many surprises that will be thrown at them. We would tell you what they are…but then we would have to kill you.

Chair Letter

Dear Delegates,

My name is Laila Khalilieh, and I am so excited to be your Press Corps chair for LAMUN XIX! I am a sophomore here at UCLA and am a psychology major with an intended minor in statistics. I want to attend law school upon leaving UCLA. I plan on pursuing a career as an FBI special agent in the human trafficking or crimes against women and children units. I hope to become an FBI behavioral analysis profiler (yes, like on criminal minds).

I am very excited to be able to combine my passion for MUN and my passion for federal law enforcement with this year's CIA MUNdercover topic! I am both a staffer and a travel team member and have been lucky enough to have enjoyed many conferences with my incredible team. MUN at UCLA has helped me to foster my quick thinking and conflict resolution skills. I'm genuinely so grateful to have found an organization that allows me to learn more about the world while simultaneously letting me use my randomly acquired fun facts about geopolitics. I am so happy to be given a chance to be your chair this year and help make your MUN career even more special!

The Press Corps is already as specialized a specialized body can be so press corps delegates will have to think on their feet to use their investigative writing skills and logical reasoning to accomplish their goals. This year, the Press Corps at LAMUN will become even more specialized with the introduction of CD interviews and the power to change the course of other crisis committees!

I hope you all have a wonderful time using your super secret agent skills, and wish you the best of luck! Feel free to email me with any questions regarding committee procedure or research.

Best,

Laila Khalilieh
