Esteemed Delegates and Advisors,

Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Friends,

My name is Josef Sinigiani, and it is my profound honor to serve as the Secretary-General of the 21st iteration of the Los Angeles Model United Nations Conference - LAMUN XXI. As a senior at UCLA, I am thrilled to welcome you to this year’s conference, held April 23–26 at the iconic Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

LAMUN XXI marks a new chapter in our conference’s legacy. As the #1 ranked West Coast collegiate conference, LAMUN has always pushed the boundaries of what Model UN can be. But this year, for the 21st iteration, we are raising the bar higher than ever before. Upping our slate to 16 committees - including 3 General Assemblies, 3 Specialized Bodies, and 10 Crisis simulations, delegates will enter spaces designed to be challenging, innovative, and above all, unforgettable.

This year, we are proud to introduce several first-ever additions to the LAMUN circuit:

• LAMUN’s first-ever Ad Hoc General Assembly of the President

• The first Ancient UN Security Council

LAMUN XXI is built around four pillars: timeliness, fun, decolonization, and drama.

Our topics pull directly from the world around us - recent crises, cultural milestones, and fast-moving events shaping global systems. Our General Assemblies uplift themes of decolonization and Indigenous representation. Our Crisis and Spec committees lean into chaos, creativity, and narrative intensity, including the “Gossip Girl” press presence, ensuring drama is never in short supply. And above all, as one of the last collegiate conferences of the year, LAMUN XXI is designed to be fun - an energetic, memory-filled finale before finals season settles in.

Whether you are joining us for your closing conference of the season, attending your last conference as a graduating senior, or stepping into LAMUN for the very first time, our greatest hope is that you leave with new friends, meaningful memories, and a reaffirmed passion for the real-world issues that our committees explore. We are especially excited to welcome schools joining us for the first time, your presence is part of what makes this year so special.

LAMUN XXI exists because of the dedication of many:

• The LAMUN Secretariat, who have poured months of imagination and effort into every detail

• Our staffers, who bring our committees to life

• And you - the delegates, whose energy and engagement define this conference year after year

As we gather together to close out the collegiate circuit with excitement, community, and just a touch of chaos, I encourage you to embrace every moment. Though LAMUN XXI marks the end of the season, let it also be the beginning of something new. New ambitions, new connections, and new inspiration for whatever comes next.
