LAMUN XXII

April 22-25, 2027

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sam Lyle, and I am incredibly excited and honored to serve as the Secretary General of our 22nd iteration of LAMUN. We hope you are ready to escape to the perfect weather of Los Angeles, to engage in a weekend of fun, exciting, and thought provoking debate April 22-25, 2027 at the Biltmore Hotel.

This will be my fourth and final LAMUN and I can confidently say that LAMUN is one of my favorite events of the year. From staffing Ad-Hoc as a freshman, to chairing it the following year, to serving on secretariat last spring, I have watched this conference from every seat in the room, and now I have the pleasure to lead an incredible team this year! MUN has played a big role in my time here at UCLA. I have made the most incredible memories staffing, chairing, and competing with my friends across the US. When I am not spending every weekend traveling to a conference I am often outside rock climbing, bird watching, and taking my labrador Lily on long car drives.

If there is one thing that has stayed the same across all four of my LAMUNs, it is that this conference is about fun. The best conferences are the ones where you make a new committee bestie, debate topics you care about, and spend your weekend in a room that feels welcoming from start to finish. This philosophy has served as my guiding principle as I work with an incredible secretariat to bring LAMUN XXII to reality.

We have an exciting change coming next year!

This is our third year at the Biltmore, and I like to think we’ve gotten the hang of it. We know how to navigate the halls, which corner of the lobby is best for a bloc huddle, and exactly where to send you for lunch between committee sessions. And after listening to your feedback and watching how the last two years have run, we’ve decided to add an additional traditional GA committee to this year’s slate. Crisis delegates, don’t feel left out: I promise our crisis slate is just as exciting.

LAMUN will be my final conference and I know it is a lot of people’s last MUN hurrah as well. I want LAMUN XXII to be a conference full of memories. Whether it is your first conference or last conference I hope you will take away a vast amount of knowledge from your fellow peers, a passion for leading change, and friends you will take with you even after MUN is over.

Thank you for making the trip. Thank you to every staffer and secretariat member who has worked endlessly to make this weekend so special. I can’t wait to see you all in April!
